How can we prepare for book club?
The best way to prepare is to read the book with your child at least once or twice. You need not focus on any particular aspect of the book – the point is simply for your child to be familiar with the basic storyline, so that she is ready for a deeper layer of understanding. Also, as you know, your child will be at her best if she has slept and eaten well before class. I always recommend offering a healthy snack before class begins.
What if my kid won’t sit still for the class?
Most kids won’t! Bookworms is not a place where children are expected to sit still and be quiet. Children are encouraged to shout out their thoughts about the book. They are invited to use their hands and bodies to play along during the book reading. If we make books fun for kids at this age, they are more likely to embrace books, reading and studying as they grow up.Can my kid do it?
Any kid can be a Bookworm. We do not expect children to perform at any certain level or in any certain manner. We respect each child’s unique way of soaking up the material we offer. No two children will learn in exactly the same way, but we believe all children benefit from a positive, literary environment like the one we provide at Bookworms.
Do you do events?
